Lahore: A high level meeting was held here today under the chairmanship of Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif to review security arrangements regarding Metro Bus Project which was attended by Inspector General of Police Punjab, Secretary Home, Project Director BRT, Additional IG Special Branch, CCPO Lahore, Chairman Punjab Information Technology Board and DIG Operations were present.
Addressing the meeting, Chief Minister said that Metro Bus Project is a splendid project of Punjab government which would provide so much relief to the people that they would forget their temporary inconvenience. He said foolproof security plan would be formulated for Metro Bus Project under which a central control room would be set up to keep a vigilant eye at every route. He said latest CCTV cameras would be installed at the routes and best security arrangements would be made at bus stations, for which all possible resources would be provided. He constituted a committee, under the chairmanship of Secretary Home which would present medium and long-term plan regarding security arrangements.
The Chief Minister directed making Rescue-1122 Centre at the elevated section of Metro Bus route, and said that comprehensive planning should be made to adopt preventive measures in order to combat any unpleasant situation. He said Metro Bus Service is a historic and unique project for the people and it is a collective responsibility to protect this great asset. He said that all possible steps would be taken to ensure security and maintenance of this great project. Various proposals regarding Metro Bus Project security arrangements were reviewed during the meeting.
