Cecile Landsverk calls on Nawaz Sharif

Lahore: The Ambassador of Norway in Pakistan Miss Cecile Landsverk called on President Pakistan Muslim League-N Muhammad Nawaz Sharif in Raiwind and discussed matters of mutual interest and bilateral relations.

Speaking on the occasion, PML-N President Muhammad Nawaz Sharif said that Pakistan has long standing economic and trade relations with Norway and the help and assistance extended by Norwegian government to the flood affectees of Pakistan in 2010 on humanitarian grounds is highly valued by the Pakistani people. He said there is a vast scope of cooperation between Pakistan and Norway in governance, education, health and social sectors. He said that exports of cotton, textile and leather from Pakistan to Norway should be increased.

The Norwegian Ambassador informed Nawaz Sharif that Norway has made large investment in telecommunication sector in Pakistan. She said that Norway is the third biggest exporter of gas in the world, fifth in oil and sixth in hydro power. She said that there is a need to increase cooperation in gas, oil and hydro power projects between Norway and Pakistan. Nawaz Sharif said that Pakistan can benefit from Norway in overcoming its energy crisis.

Meanwhile, Muslim League-N leaders from Faisalabad Ch. Asim Nazir and Ch. Zahid Nazir also met PML-N President Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif in Raiwind and exchanged views on political situation. Former member UK Parliament Ch. Sarwar was also present on the occasion.
