Lahore:A representative delegation led by Political Consular of British High Commission, Ms. Susan Hyland called on PML-N leader Maryam Nawaz Sharif, here today. During the meeting, matters of mutual interest, women role in national development and the measures taken for empowerment of women in Punjab came under discussion.
While talking to the Political Consular, Maryam Nawaz Sharif said that Punjab government has made legislation for giving rights to the women in property and inheritance which will decrease a number of problems of the women. Likewise, the government has made progress in implementation of quota reserved for women in government jobs and they are also working as incharge in government departments. She informed that the women are also taking active part in national politics which has helped a lot to resolve women problems in the society. She also informed about the keen interest of girl students in education and various steps of Punjab government including provision of laptops to students.
Talking on the occasion, Political Consular of British High Commission Susan Hyland lauded the measures taken by Punjab government for the improvement of social sector and provision of better facilities to the citizens.
