Govt committed to increase literacy rate: Kaira

Kharian: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Qamar Zaman Kaira on Saturday said that the government was utilizing all available resources to increase the literacy rate in the country.

Addressing the opening ceremony of a branch of Roots School System here, the Information Minister said that no progress in any field was possible without improving the literacy rate.He said that no government could achieve its goals without considering the education as its top priority. Only those nations have achieved the economic progress, which realized the importance of education, he added.

Kaira said that the best investment of any nation was to focus more on education and make every one educated in the present era of science and technology.He said “Unfortunately no past government had made efforts to raise the literacy rate due to which still much more is needed to be done in the education sector to make the nation at par with the developed ones.”He said that the incidents of extremism and terrorism in the country were also due to lack of education. “We can defeat the extremist elements only if we have educated youth.” He said that the government was fully aware of its responsibilities
and doing its best to make everyone a useful citizen of the country
by imparting quality education to the all.

Kaira said that despite limited resources, the government had already implemented many projects in the education sector in all the provinces.He said “Our children are very talented and they have proved the world over wherever they get chances.”He thanked the CEO of Roots School System for opening of a branch in the area, which would help provide quality education to the children. He said that the government would extend all possible support to the Roots School system in setting up more branches in the area.
