PTI slams government’s so called security measures in Karachi and Quetta

Lahore: Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf Central information secretary Shafqat Mahmood in his statement has slammed the government’s so called security measures for holy month of Muharram. He said that suspension of mobile service, restrictions on conducting business between from 10am to 5pm and decision to keep bikers off the road are meaningless until strong security measures are taken to control the law and order situation. Party’s spokes-person said that government needs to focus on de-weaponization of Karachi instead of taking such ineffective security measures.

He stated that the law enforcing agencies have failed to prevent violence and damage to both public and private property in Karachi. The constant violence in Karachi has disrupted economic activity but the interior minister is coming up with such unprecedented measures to conceal his inefficiency and incompetence, as instead of cracking down on terrorist networks and resorting to infringe the rights of citizens. In the past the government has ordered suspension of mobile phone services across the country “for security reasons” on more than one occasion, earning nothing but displeasure for the masses. PTI welcomes SHC’s decision to annul the bikes restriction order as it is in violation of the basic rights of citizens. PTI demands concrete security measures to rectify the law and order situation in Karachi.
