PIDA initiated Staff training of newly recruited personnel

Lahore: Staff training of newly recruited personnel has been initiated by Punjab Irrigation and Drainage Authority (PIDA) in Bahawalnagar and Dera Ghazi Khan area water boards. According to the programme an introductory workshop was held at PIDA headquarters in the first phase, while the technical training of the staff would be held in the field areas.

Under Punjab Irrigation System Improvement Project workshop, which is continuing with the cooperation of cooperation of JICA, newly recruited officers on the posts of managers, coordinators, audit officers and secretary area water boards attended. During the workshop the new officers were informed in detail about the rules and regulations of PIDA and practical participation of farmers in the working of the canal system. Technical advisor of workshop Muhammad Aslam Qureshi, Deputy General Manager(TM) Afzal Anjum Toor, Deputy General Manager (Social Mobilization) Syed Shaiq Hussain Abidi informed the participants about various aspects of canal systems as resource person.

Talking to the officers during the workshop, general manager PIDA Ch. Bashir Ahmad Zahid called upon them to work with missionary zeal, honesty and dedication so that the farmers’ community could be provided vigorous representation in the maintenance of canal system on coordinated basis. The workshop was also addressed by the representative of JICA Mr. Norio Kiyono.
