CM visits Metro Bus project without any protocol

Lahore:Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif paid a surprise visit to metro bus project in the evening and reviewed the ongoing construction work. Chairman Lahore Transport Company Khawaja Ahmed Hasaan, Project Director BRT Sibtain Fazl-e-Haleem and DG LDA Ahad Khan Cheema accompanied the Chief Minister. The Chief Minister visited the project from Niazi Chowk to Ferozepur Road. The Chief Minister mingled with the labourers in front of Mayo College. He gave ‘shabash” to the labourers for continuing work on Sunday despite being a holiday and shook hand with them. On the occasion, the Chief Minister directed the concerned officers to complete this great project at the earliest and further accelerate the pace of construction work.

Talking to the labourers on the occasion, Shahbaz Sharif said that this gigantic project of transport in the history of Pakistan has been started for the common man which is being completed at a cost of less than Rs. 27 billion. He said that this is not a project but a great mission of public service. The Chief Minister said that after the completion of metro bus project, common man will travel in affordable and modern buses above whereas vehicles of the elite will run below these buses. He said that the fare of metro bus will be within the reach of common man. Shahbaz Sharif said that after becoming operational of metro bus projects so called critics will be silent automatically as this project has been planned keeping in view the needs of the common man.

On this occasion, Shahbaz Sharif asked labourers whether they are satisfied with the pace of work on the project, upon which they informed the Chief Minister that the work is being carried out round the clock and expressed the hope that the project will be completed soon and they only need guidance from the Chief Minister. On this, the Chief Minister said that the labourers working on the metro bus project are doing a historical job and Punjab government appreciates their work. During his visit, the Chief Minister also directed to further accelerate the work on the new bridge being constructed along Lahore Bridge. The Chief Minister spent more than two and a half hours on metro bus project without any protocol and during his visit the general traffic was also not stopped any place rather the vehicle of the Chief Minister stopped at traffic signals at various places.
