All the institutions had learnt from the past: Qamar Zaman Kaira

Lahore: Qamar Zaman Kaira said that all the institutions had learnt
from the past and none had ever talked about extra-constitutional
steps.”No institution can send the government packing on one pretext
or the other or on the basis of its performance as neither the media
nor the political forces and the civil society will tolerate it. All the institutions will have to work within their constitutional domains”, said the minister.

Replying to a question, he said that in the presence of
an independent Election Commission, free media and the judiciary,
there could not be a chance of delaying general elections. “Elections will be held on time and power will be transferred to
the elected representatives as per law”, he added.

He said that it had transpired from the Asghar Khan case verdict
that in the past general elections were stolen through rigging and fake governments were formed.

Answering a question about the letter written to the Swiss
authorities, he said that a prime minister had been disqualified in that case and the government agreed to write the letter when its concerns over the presidential immunity were addressed by the court.
He said that the PPP was holding consultations with its allied
parties and the seat adjustment process would be completed before the
elections.Replying to a question about the alleged violations of election code,Kaira said that the Election Commission should take notice of such reports so that no such incidents occur in general elections.
