Law enforcing agencies have failed to prevent violence in Karachi: PTI

Lahore: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s Chairman Imran Khan, Vice Chairman PTI Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Secretary General Dr. Arif Alvi, President Javed Hashmi and Information secretary Shafqat Mahmood strongly condemn the killing of Faraz Haider, Production Co-ordinator, Creative Department GEO Television as a result of Ranger’s firing near the Liaqatabad bridge. PTI sends their condolences to his family, friends, and colleagues. PTI expresses concern over the deteriorating law and order situation in Karachi which has not been controlled over the past few months.

These incidents create a sense of fear that affects all media professionals in Pakistan and is felt most poignantly by those working in the conflict zones. All efforts should be made on priority basis to ensure the safety of media persons in Pakistan.

Chairman Imran Khan has stated that the law enforcing agencies have failed to prevent violence and damage to both public and private property in Karachi. The constant violence in Karachi has disrupted routine economic activity. The Chairman has asked the people of Karachi to remain calm and restore peace in the financial hub of the country. Acts of violence will only cause further damage to the public and is not a solution to the underlined problem. PTI stands for peaceful political coexistence of all political and democratic stake holders in the country and appeals to the different parties to shun politics of violence and maintain the balance of peace and harmony in the city.
