Crimes rate is declining across the province:IGP

Lahore: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab Muhammad Habib-ur-Rehman has said that the crimes rate is declining across the province due to the effective policing and hard working officers/officials. The brave policemen who put their lives at stake to fight against the criminals to help ensure justice are in fact doing a commendable job.

The Inspector General of Police Punjab expressed these views in his special messages sent to RPO Multan Aamir Zulifqar and RPO Gujranwala Muhammad Amin Wains for carrying out two separate and successful operations against the criminals.

As per details, last night crossfire erupted between Multan police (Jalalpur police station) and six proclaimed offenders when the police raided a house to arrest the criminals. The police also retaliated. As a result, two proclaimed offenders Mushtaq alias Bagga and Shaukat alias Baggu were killed while their four accomplices managed to escape. Both the killed POs were wanted to the Multan police in several cases of dacoities, robberies, and gang-rape. It is important to mention here that the Chief Minister Punjab, taking notice of a gang-rape incident in 2008 in which both the POs were involved, had suspended all the officers/officials of Jalalpur police station from service.

Similarly, Gujraat police foiled a robbery attempt at UBL moneychanger in A-division police limits by arresting the robbers.

A police team was on routine patrol in Union Council 59 when they noticed hue and cry inside a moneychanger’s shop. As the police stormed into the shop, they saw the robbers were putting looted money worth Rs 1.7 million into a bag. As the robbers resorted to firing, the policemen also retaliated. As a result, the police have arrested the bandits, recovered illegal weapons and cash from their possession. The robbers are being interrogated.
