Lahore: Punjab government has established Punjab Municipal Development Fund Company for the purpose of capacity-building of local governments in the province.Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif has said that there is a need for further improving efficiency of this institution.
The Chief Minister was presiding over a briefing meeting at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat, here today, in connection with Punjab Municipal Development Fund Company. The meeting was attended Dr. Zafar Iqbal Qureshi, Secretary Planning & Development, Secretary Local Government, Managing Director PMDFC and other authorities. Secretary Local Government informed the Chief Minister about organizational matters and working of PMDFC. The Chief Minister said that Punjab government has promoted transparency and good governance in all sectors therefore the process of purchasing machinery for local governments projects should also be completed in a transparent manner. He directed that along with Lahore, the latest method for solid waste management and sanitation be adopted in all other districts as well, besides proper maintenance of the machinery of PMDFC should be ensured. The Chief Minister also ordered third-party audit of the machinery of PMDFC.
