Chairman Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf Imran Khan was detained at Toronto airport. He had boarded the plane for New York but was off loaded and American Immigration officials questioned him about his stance on drones. He reiterated his oft stated position that the drones were not only illegal being violative of Pakistan’s sovereignty but also killed innocent men women and children. He said that he had opposed this barbarity for years and would continue to do so. It appears that this detention was a result of a speech he made in Toronto to a group of Pakistani Canadians numbering over 8000 in which he had severely criticized the drone attacks on Pakistani tribal areas. It seems that this speech occasioned the questioning.
After detaining Mr. Khan for over an hour, he and his party was allowed to leave for New York.
