Defending workers rights hallmark of PPP manifesto: Kaira

Lahore: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Qamar Zaman Kaira Thursday said protecting and defending rights of workers is the hallmark of Pakistan Peoples Party manifesto.

Addressing a signing ceremony of charter of understanding between PTV management and worker’s union (CBA) here, he said PPP led-government reinstated thousand of employees and provided job security to employees by regularizing their service during the last four and a half years despite financial constraints.

The Information Minister said that all remaining of PTV employees will be regularized according to the defined mechanism.He said that PTV being a profitable organization is a model for other organizations.

The Minister said that employees are the strength of any institution and it is the responsibility of the state to provide jobs to the people.He urged PTV employees to work sincerely and with devotion for PTV’s credibility.

Earlier Kaira congratulated PTV management and union for holding successful dialogue and reaching a understating for the charter of demands presented by the Union.The PTV management has accepted demand of 22.5 percent increase in basic salaries and other allowances.

The Minister also directed the management to give Eid advance amount of Rs. 10,000 to every employee which will be adjusted from their arrears.Managing Director Pakistan Television Yusuf Baig Mirza announced to give Eid advance to the employees.

Talking on the occasion, the MD congratulated the union and management for successful dialogue and said, “We realize needs of
workers but due to financial constraints some time it is not possible for us to fulfill all demands.”Beside the Minister information and MD PTV, President PTV Union Iqbal Shaheen, General secretary Malik Shabeer, members of PTV management and representatives of CBA union were present at the signing ceremony.
