Lahore: The opening ceremony of the Punjab Youth Festival 2012 main round which is the Provincial Level will be held today (Saturday) at the National Hockey Stadium with around 24,000 students and athletes and the audience of about 60,000 will attempt the world record of the singing the national anthem.
The Guinness World Record official will be watching the maximum number of athletes, volunteers, students and guests creating the record. All these people were busy in full dress rehearsal of the activity to take place at the National Hockey Stadium.
As par the day’s order, everything will be followed as has been the practice in every sports events in which athletes march into the stadium after the torch rally is passes the area and the caldrons will lit.
After the athletes of all the nine divisions of Punjab march into the stadium, Chief Minister Punjab Mian Shahbaz Sharif will declare the event open.
On the day, complete dress rehearsal of the opening ceremony took place under the supervision of Salman Iqbal Butt and Sher Ali
Meanwhile, in some of the events held at the Expo Centre, dress designing the participants showed their skills in cutting and designing of the clothes. The event was participated by the winners of the seven divisions. These ladies were given the time from 11 am to 3 pm to complete their assigned work.
Sadia Yousuf of Faisalabad was declared the best designer while Ghulam Fiza of Gujranwala was placed second and Asmat Batool of Rawalpindi Division got the third position. Muslim League leader and advisor to CM Begum Zakia Shah was the chief guest of the event and distributed the prizes among the winners.
