Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif today paid a visit to Metro Bus Service Project early in the morning and reviewed the pace of construction work. Member Provincial Assembly, Mehr Ishtiaq Ahmed, Director General LDA and other concerned officers accompanied the Chief Minister. DG LDA Ahad Cheema gave a detailed briefing to Chief Minister regarding the project.
The Chief Minister said that metro bus service is a splendid project in the transport history of Pakistan and its completion would result in modern, affordable and rapid transport facilities. He said that metro bus service project will soon be opened to the general public and the fare of metro bus service will be within the reach of the common man. He said that metro bus service will be completely free for the people during the first four weeks and no fare will be charged. He said that this modern service will revolutionize transport system and will give a new identity to Lahore. He said that those travelling by their personal cars will also prefer to travel by metro bus service as it will save their time and they will be able to reach their destination quickly. He said that he realize that due to construction work, people are facing problems and difficulties but these are temporary and will give way to permanent relief.
While reviewing construction work at different sections of the project, he directed authorities concerned to ensure expeditious implementation of the project. He said that the pace of work can be accelerated through better coordination between the departments concerned. He directed that there should be no delay in the execution of the public welfare project. The Chief Minister directed DG LDA to consider the project of making Qurtaba Chowk interchange signal-free from every aspect and a report should be submitted to him in this regard within 24 hours. The Chief Minister directed to make arrangements for the continuation of the work on metro bus service project even during Eid-ul-Azha holidays and said that no compromise can be made on the quality of construction work.
The Chief Minister further directed authorities concerned to utilize all available resources for the speedy completion of this glorious project. The Chief Minister also visited bus depot being constructed for metro bus service and directed the authorities concerned to complete the work expeditiously. He said that the pace of work on the project should be continued round the clock as there is no room for delay in its completion.
