Government is utilizing all available resources for flood victims:Zulifqar Khosa

Lahore: Senior Advisor to Chief Minister, Senator Sardar Zulfiqar Ali Khan Khosa has said that Punjab. He said that in the light of past experience, the losses to be occurred due to flood can be minimized in future by restoring the centuries’ old watercourses by taking appropriate measures through a comprehensive strategy.

He expressed these views while addressing the special meeting held to ascertain the causes of flood in DG Khan and Rajanpur and their solutions.

Senator Sardar Zulfiqar Ali Khan Khosa said that stoppage of natural calamities is impossible, however, there is a need to work on short and long term basis in order to save DG Khan and Rajanpur from flood. He said that under short term, natural watercourses should be restored in the next year and on long term, such a strategy should be evolved by adopting modern methods and technology so that the loss to the lives and properties of the people of the area could be minimized. He directed the officials of irrigation department present in the meeting to constitute a technical committee which should review all these matters and submit its report within two weeks. He further said that those retired officers of irrigation, communication & works and other concerned departments should be included in the technical committee, who have served in these areas so that the committee could include their experiences in its recommendations and solid measures could be taken for saving from flood in future.

Members National and Provincial Assembly Engr. Khurram Dastagir Khan, Sardar Fateh Muhammad Bazdar, Sardar Sher Ali Khan Gorchani, Member CM Inspection Team, Secretary Irrigation, Commissioner DG Khan, DCOs DG Khan & Rajanpur, Chief Engineer Highways Khayam Qaiser, Chief Engineer Irrigation Nazir Ahmed Anjum and other senior officers were also present on the occasion.
