Criminal cops have no place in Police : IGP Haji Habib

Lahore: There is no place in the department for the policemen involved in crimes and patronizing the criminals and they will be terminated from their services. For this purpose, a high-level Scrutiny Committee to be headed by Additional-IG Traffic Punjab Kalb-e-Abbas has been formed. Additional-IG CTD Mushtaq Sukhera and Additional-IG Special Branch Punjab Nasir Khan Durrani will be members of the committee. This committee, which has been activated from today, will collect information about such police officers/officials serving in the Punjab province and those police officials/officers found involved in patronizing the criminals will be fired from the department.

Inspector General of Police (IGP) of Punjab Muhammad Habib-ur-Rehman expressed these views while presiding over Provincial Law and Order Meeting held at Central Police Office (CPO) Lahore today. RPOs and DPOs from all over the province and DIG (Operations) and DIG (Investigations) Lahore were also present in the meeting.

It was decided in the meeting that all the postings and transfers would be made purely on merit and no pressure or recommendation will be accepted in this regard. The Field Officers were also directed to submit the report regarding all the pending cases to CPO Lahore within two days.

It was further decided that the aggressive policy against the hardened criminals will continue. However, the police officers/officials who will try to implicate innocent citizens in crimes cases would be taken to task and strict legal and department action would be taken against them.

The meeting also recommended that the lists of the police officers/officials who got recruited on fake degrees/certificates would also be prepared while a Police School will be established at Badian Road for the children of police officials/officers.It was also decided that the local TV cables could be used effectively in order to build the police image in the eyes of public by promoting police work.

The IGP was informed in the meeting that the vaccination campaign of policemen against Hepatitis has been completed in Gujranwala Region while the campaign will also be completed in other regions of the Punjab police.

The participants of the meeting also expressed their satisfaction over the law and order and overall crimes situation in the Punjab province.

Meanwhile, Inspector General of Police (IGP) of Punjab Muhammad Habib-ur-Rehman will preside over a high-level meeting at Police Lines Qila Gujjar Singh Lahore to review the overall law and order situation in Lahore tomorrow.
