Shahbaz Sharif appreciates British Minister services


London: Punjab Chief Minister, met British Minister for International Development, Alan Duncan in London and gave final shape to the proposals for promotion of bilateral cooperation in various sectors. Director of Department for International Development (DFID) was also present on the occasion. Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif lauded the cooperation of DFID in various sectors in Punjab and said that the grant provided for the promotion of government policies in education sector in Punjab province is yielding encouraging results. He said that Punjab government is enhancing Rs.2 billion in the endowment fund every year which is helping in providing educational facilities to the children facing financial constraints. Similarly, modern facilities are being provided to the young generation through laptop scheme whereas boarding and lodging facilities and quality education is being provided to the male and female students of far flung areas of the province through Daanish schools. Shahbaz Sharif said that no country can progress without education that is why Punjab government has made the education sector its top priority for which cooperation of DFID is of great importance.

Minister for International Development Alan Duncan welcomed Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif on behalf of British government and it was agreed to promote bilateral cooperation for the development of various sectors in Punjab. The excellent performance of Punjab government in education sector was highly appreciated by DFID in the meeting. He said that British Department will continue its assistance for the uplift of education sector in Punjab. He also expressed his satisfaction over the educational priorities of his Department in Punjab and achievements made in this sector.
