More Heavy rains expected in Lahore

Lahore: Heavy rains have raised the question on Punjab government performance in metropolitan city of Lahore. The rain that started in the city from Sunday night to Monday night from time to time ,jammed the life in the city as one can see water in anywhere in the city. Hundreds of thousands people have to face problems due to stagnant water on the roads.All the underpasses in the town fill with rain water and caused the worst ever traffic jam. Uncountable vehicles including ambulances were standing on the roads due to water that could not be drained. Power breakdown also created mess for the people in the city during rain, several old buildings were also damaged.

WASA authorities have claimed that the heavy rains that started in the Monday night at around 8PM and continued for 45 minutes collapsed the sewerage system in the city.

Heavy rains are expected in several areas of upper Punjab, Kashmir and GB during next 24 hours.

According to the Met office, more heavy rains with thunderstorm are expected during the next 24 hours at several areas of Upper Punjab, Kashmir and scattered places in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan.

During the last 24 hours, rainstorms poured down in some areas of Punjab, Peshawar, Hazara Division, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.

In Mianwali, 65 milli-metre of rainfall was recorded while in Gujranwala 41 milli-metre, Sahiwal 39 milli-metre, Faisalabad 25 milli-metre, Peshawar 12 milli-metre, in Lahore and Bahawal Nagar 9 milli-metre, Rawalpindi 8 milli-metre and in Islamabad, Garhi Dopatta and Okara 2 milli-metre of rainfall poured.
