Education is the top priority of the Punjab Government:Mujtaba Shuja

Lahore: Minister Education Punjab Mian Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman has said that education is the top priority of the provincial government and the government has taken new initiatives in the field of education. He said that provincial government will spend rupees 195 billion on education during current fiscal year. He said that technical education is the backbone of our education system and economy as well and government will also be awarded cash prizes as well as laptops to the position holders of Technical Board.

He expressed these views at a reception held in honour of new students at Pak Polytechnic Institute, MPA Ijaz Ahmed Khan, Arifa Khalid Pervaiz, Najam Naheed, Saeed Alam Zaidi, Chairman Technical Board Dr. Shafique also addressed on the occasion. Mian Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman said that complete elimination of terrorism and extremism is necessary for the progress & prosperity of the country. He said that unemployment and poverty could be minimized through eradication of terrorism, whereas, extremism can be rooted out through promotion of quality education. He said that our struggle against extremism could never be fruitful without enhancing education rate and consulting the intellectuals & writers.

He said that private institutions are playing pivotal role in the promotion of education in the country and Punjab Government would continue its cooperation & assistance to the private education institutions.

Mian Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman said that 6 Danish Schools are running in the province whereas, 8 Danish schools will be completed in current month besides 8 Danish schools will be set up in current financial year with a cost of 2 billion. Daanish schools would spread knowledge in every nook and corner of the country and would remove poverty and ignorance from backward areas and a new era of progress and development will usher in, he added. He said that government has recruited 36 thousand school teachers and 30 thousand subject specialist purely on merit.

Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman said that government has set-up endowment fund with rupees 10 billion, talented and deserving students are gating scholarship for higher studies. He told that Punjab Government has provided a sum of Rs. 10 billion to promote school education in the marginalized strata and 1.5 million deserving students in the 36 districts would be benefited during current year. He told that a sum of Rs. 46 billion will be spent on the school education sector to elevate it according to international standards
