No negligence would be beard in war against dengue:Hamza Shahbaz

Lahore: Member National Assembl,y Hamza Shahbaz Sharif has said that the employees of departments playing active role in the eradication of dengue will be given financial incentives. He said that there is no room for any negligence and ignorance in the war against dengue. This is an issue of saving human lives and shortage of funds and administrative matters will not be allowed to become hurdle in this struggle, he added.

He expressed these views while presiding over a meeting summoned for reviewing anti-dengue campaign, at Chief Minister’s Secretariat, today. MNA Pervaiz Malik, Advisor on Health Khawaja Salman Rafique, Members Punjab Assembly, Commissioner, DCO and secretaries of different departments were also present on the occasion. Representatives of all concerned departments including health, local government, environment, city district government, IT and other institutions gave a detailed briefing to the meeting regarding the measures taken against dengue so far.

Hamza Shahbaz Sharif directed all the concerned departments to review their strategy and operation and remove flaws besides actively work with new pledge to eradicate the dengue larva. He said that every department should ensure its activities at low level while city district government at UC level. He said that the teams of volunteers can give best results by working door to door and mohallah level.

Hamza Shahbaz Sharif directed Commissioner and DCO to take strict action against the owners of factories, educational institutions, and industrial units failing to implement the laws related to dengue as no compromise could be made on the matter of saving human lives. He said that no financial or administrative hurdle would be allowed in the success of anti-dengue campaign. He directed to make arrangements for paying the salaries of workers participating in anti-dengue campaign in the towns within three days. He said that the time has come to work in the practical field instead of holding meetings.

Earlier, Commissioner, DCO, secretaries and representatives of health, environment, local government, city district government, IT & labour, fisheries, forests, auqaf and education departments gave a briefing regarding performance and role of their institutions. MNA Pervaiz Malik said that credit of the ongoing successful campaign against dengue goes to Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif. He appreciated the role of Assistant Commissioners in the campaign against dengue and emphasized that after getting the statistics of private hospitals, they should be made the basis of the strategy. MPA Khawaja Salman Rafique said that the arrangements against dengue are most effective this year than the previous year and they have full support at political and public level, however, human resources will have to be improved for making this campaign more effective.
