Lahore: Member National Assembly and Chairman Dengue Response Committee Ravi Town, Malik Riaz has said that with regard to anti-dengue campaign, September 09 is an important day as it will give message to the masses that elimination of dengue mosquito is their need as well social responsibility. He said that people should keep their surroundings clean and adopt protective measures against dengue.
He was presiding over a meeting at Ravi Town office today. Member Provincial Assembly, Rana Iqbal, Dr. Asad Ashraf , Sakina Shaheen, Kiran Dar, TMO Ravi Town, Administrator Ravi Town besides officers of health department, education department and WASA were also present in the meeting.
The meeting was informed that camp offices have been set up at union council level for observing Anti-Dengue Larva day on September 09 where city district government and health department members as well as 25-member union council staff alongwith volunteers will launch awareness campaign from 9.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m. as well as visit streets and mohallas to point out dengue larva. This staff will not only distribute pamphlets but also help carryout sprays in houses.
The meeting was informed that lady health workers will also distribute pamphlets highlighting preventive measures against dengue. He said that in case dengue larva was found at any place, samples will be taken and spray will be conducted at the affected place. 70 workers will also inspect ponds and vacant spaces and in case of presence of larva, chemical will be sprayed.
Chairman Dengue Response Committee Malik Riaz was informed that pamphlets are being distributed in houses for prevention from dengue mosquito and polio by the health department.
