Lahore: Khawaja Salman Rafique has said, as a result of eight months long government efforts and vigorous cooperation by the citizens, the dengue virus situation is satisfactory so far, however, there is still need for continuous monitoring and continuation of present effective steps to overcome the issue.
He expressed these views while leading an anti-dengue awareness walk from Lahore Fort main gate to Iqbal Park, here today. Secretary Sports, officers and officials of Auqaf and Tourism departments, representatives of NGOs and a large number of Laborites participated in the anti-dengue walk. The participants displayed banners and play cards with anti-dengue slogans inscribed on them.
Talking to the media representatives, Khajwaja Salman Rafique said that, under the dynamic leadership of Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, we would have to defeat the dengue virus, by not getting afraid from it, but by combating it. He said that the government enjoys vigorous cooperation by the people in its anti-dengue campaign, while the mass media has performed an exemplary service in creating greater awareness among the general public in this regard. He said that the government, people’s elected representatives, members of the civil society are united in their campaign to rid the province of dengue menace and, Inshall Allah, the government would achieve this aim with a thumping success.
