Lahore: Chairman Samanabad Town Emergency Response Committee (TERC) and Member National Assembly Mian Marghoob Ahmad has directed the concerned authorities to register the case under Dengue Control Act against the officials of Customs Department on account of stagnant water at Customs’ Warehouse and parked vehicles wherein dengue larvae was detected.
Mian Marghoob gave these directions during his visit to Customs Warehouse situated near Shah Noor Studio regarding Anti-Dengue Campaign. Member Provincial Assembly Mehar Ishtiaq Ahmad, TMO Samanabad Town Imtiaz Aman and other concerned officers were also present. MNA directed that Customs authorities to shift the warehouse outside the revenue limits of the city so that citizens could be saved from dengue virus. He also directed TMO to take such vehicles in possession whose window panes were broken and wherein rainwater was found with larvae
Earlier, TERC Chairman Mian Marghoob chaired a special meeting in the office of Samanabad Town to chalk out action plan regarding anti-dengue campaign. He also took strong exception to absence of representatives of Social Welfare, Education (colleges) and PHA. He urged all segments of the society to play their due role to curb dengue because without larvaeciding one could not get rid of dengue virus.
TERC Chairman said that 19 mini teams headed by concerned secretaries of Union Councils have been constituted in this regard and 500 volunteers have presented their services to town office for the anti-dengue campaign. He said that concerned MNAs and MPAs would monitor the activities of these teams. He said that schedule has been given to these teams and they would start their activities from tomorrow (September 2, 2012).
The meeting was told that a central team has also been constituted which would be headed by Chairman TERC/ Co-Chairman TERC, Administrator, while TMO, DDO(Health) Entomologist, Civil Defense and Rescue-1122 representative would be its members. The central team would strictly monitor the anti-dengue activities and pay surprise visits to the union councils of the metropolis.
