HED devises plan for dengue day

Lahore: Higher Education Department Punjab has devised an action plan regarding anti-dengue day under which all public and private sector educational institutions will remain open on September 2. All subordinate offices will strictly observe the instructions issued by Higher Education Department and S&GAD regarding dengue. A spokesman of the department informed that meetings of parents and teachers will be held in connection with anti-dengue day and walks will be arranged in big cities for creating awareness about dengue in which teachers, volunteers, public representatives and people will participate. Posters and banners will be displayed on prominent places in educational institutions and camps and desks will be set up at various places for distributing pamphlets regarding dengue awareness. Moreover, seminars and workshops will be arranged in educational institutions with the help of master trainers and activities of identifying larvae will continue. The spokesman told that camp will be set up in every college for registration of volunteers. Public representatives and media will be included in dengue awareness campaign and all administrative officers will spend two hours in the field for reviewing the steps taken for protection from dengue. Zero period will be arranged for teachers, volunteers and staff and officers of Agriculture, Health, Environment departments and city district government will be invited for delivering lectures. Volunteers will be included for providing training to teachers regarding eradication of dengue whereas master trainers and volunteers will impart training to the staff. The spokesman further said that monitoring teams will visit private sector institutions to ensure anti dengue measures. All students will wear full-sleeves shirts from Monday onwards. Heads of educational institutions, Director of Education (Colleges), Deputy Director (Colleges) and principals of all government and private colleges have been advised to remove waste junks, debris from offices and educational institutions in collaboration with City District Government and Solid Waste Management Company. These departments have been directed to observe anti-dengue day on September 2 in consultation with elected representatives.
