Vocal action against SHO’s in the city

Departmental action was initiated against 12-SHOs, of Lahore for using delaying tactics on applications of the citizen and non registrations of FIRs.

The action was taken by the Citizen Feed Back Cell (CFBC) on the feedback obtained from the people who had lodged their complaints with 15 during the month of June. The cell established on instructions of the CCPO, headed by SSP Internal Accountability Division (IAD) Shariq Kamal, contacted 2135 people who had lodged complaints with 15 during the preceding month. Of them 1949 informed that legal action had already been taken on their complaints while action on 186 applications was found pending. The CFBC head took notice of the situation and issued instructions to the concerned SHOs to take appropriate legal action on such complaints, on which 99 FIRs were registered and action is under process on 87 applications.

SHOs against whom departmental action has been ordered include Ex-SHO PS Islampura Inspector Bashir Niazi, SHO Shahdra Inspector Muhammad Subtain Shah, SHO Sherakot Inspector Amjad Ali, SHO Gulberg Inspector Hafiz Abdul Majid, SHO Ghalib Market Inspector Muhammad Akmal, SHO Factory Area Inspector Rashid Amin, SHO Yaki Gate Inspector Zahoor Shaheen, SHO Tibbi City Inspector Mansoor Ahmed, SHO Raiwand City Inspector Mazhar Iqbal Ranjha, SHO Shadbagh SI Farooq Asghar and SHO Ravi Road Inspector Irshad Ullah. These SHOs were blamed of employing delaying tactics in FIRs registration and of applying wrong sections of law which were subsequently got corrected.

SSP (IAD) Shariq Kamal has warned that in future if any SHO was found guilty of negligence or using delaying tactics, he would not be spared and strict action would be taken against the defaulters. The CFBC would pay spot visits to the police stations where those having complaint of non-registration would be handed over with a copy of FIR besides taking action against the SHO concerned for non-registration in cases which merited registration of a case.

It has been decided that in future SSP (IAD) would issue show cause notices to Sub-Inspector SHOs and make recommendations to the CCPO and DIG Operations in respect of Inspector SHOs for departmental action against them.

SSP (IAD) Shariq Kamal has informed the public that his doors were open, If anybody faced some difficulty regarding registration of FIR, he could meet him in person in his office. Moreover, such citizen could also lodge their complaints on phone with Inspector Sagheer Ahmed, Incharge Citizen Feed Back Cell, on his Cell No 0321-9474414 and Office No 042-99201366 in respect of their complaints. As many as 99 such persons were handed over with copies of FIRs by SSP (IAD) who had complaint of non-registration despite having repeatedly visited the concerned police stations. Such citizens have lauded the CFBC for its working and have termed it as a landmark decision of the CCPO towards addressing the grievances of the people.
