Lahore: As many as 16 stolen vehicles valuing over Rs 8 million have been recovered by Anti Vehicle Lifting Staff Cantt: division, arresting ringleader of Adnan Dhakan gang alongwith one accomplice. The accused have disclosed 22 car thefts in Lahore, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Sheikuhpura and Nankana Sahib Districts.
According to details DIG Investigation Chaudhry Shafiq Ahmed directed SSP Investigation Babar Bakht Qureshi, to initiate steps for curbing the trend of car lifting besides effecting recovery of the stolen vehicles. On his instructions SP CRO Jamat Ali Bukhari formed a team under the supervision of DSP AVLS Saddar Division Saleem Mukhtar Butt, Inspector Rana Shakeel Ahmed and other officials.
The said team setup a picket near National Park Gulberg that a Suzuki Mehran No.LWQ-8260 being driven by Adnan with Waseem sitting on the front seat approached. When the said car was stopped and a scrutiny was carried out it transpired that it was stolen vehicle in FIR No.153/12 of PS Kotlakhpat and that its actual registration number was LEH-07/3449. During the course of investigation Three Toyota Corolla, Three Honda City, two Suzuki Cultus, one Honda Civic, Four Suzuki Mehran, one Suzuki Khyber, one Carry Dabba and one Coure valuing around 8.08 Millions were recovered from them.
The car lifters disclosed that they used to assemble after having contact each other on mobile phones. They used to steal the vehicles from hospitals & other parking stands as well as the vehicles parked in streets and Mohallas using master key and later these vehicles were disposed off in tribal belt and other districts of Punjab.
As many as 16 cases of PS Kotlakhpat, Ghalib Market, Iqbal Town, Islampura, Model Town, Faisal Town, Garden Town, Mozang, Gulshan Ravi, Shalimar, Iqbal Town and Sattokatla have been traced from accused Adnan and Waseem while cases registered in Gujranwala Faisalabad, Sheikhupura and Nankana Sahib districts are being traced.
DIG Investigation Chaudhry Shafiq Ahmed has announced cash award and commendation certificates for the police party.
