Lahore: Police claimed to have gunned down a robber in a shootout after he snatched a bike at gunpoint in the Ghalib Market Police area in the wee hours of Tuesday.
Police investigators said a citizen Muhammad Arshad informed police that two motorcyclists had robbed him at gunpoint in the suburb of Shalimar Park on Daras Road, Baghbanpura. They said the motorbike (LRA-9767) was snatched while cell phone, cash and other valuables were also snatched from Arshad.
Meanwhile, policemen deployed at a picket signaled two motorcyclists to stop but to no avail, even they opened indiscriminate fire on police contingents. “We retaliated in the same manner in self-defence, subsequently one dacoit, yet to be identified, was killed whereas his accomplice managed to flee the scene,” Ghalib Market SHO Muhammad Ali Butt said.
He said circumstantial evidences had been collected, which supported the killed man was a desperate gangster.
