592 new vacancies approved for Shahdra hospital

Lahore: Punjab Government has granted approval for 592 new vacancies for a 300-bed under construction hospital at Shahdra Lahore, while approval of 632 new vacancies have also been granted for 410-bed hospital at Bahawalpur. Among these vacancies include: specialist doctors, medical officers, woman medical officers and other nursing staff.
According to the Spokesman of Health Department, the cost of under construction 300-bed hospital at Shahdra has been estimated at Rs.592 million, while it is expected to be completed by November 2012. Similarly, the 410-bed hospital at Bahawalpur is in its final phase of construction, and the structure of the building has been completed, whereas finishing work on the project is being carried out expeditiously. The total estimate to be spent upon this hospital has been put at Rs.1250 million, out of which Rs.1200 million has so far been spent. The Spokesman emphasized that, with the construction of 410-bed hospital at Bahawalpur, latest medical care facilities would be made available to the people of South Punjab in their own areas, therefore they would not have to travel to the far-flung areas either to Lahore or to other teaching hospitals at all.
