Punjab Health Department’s team recovered stolen govt. medicines?

Lahore:A special team of Health Department Punjab has taken into custody stolen government medicines worth lakhs of rupees from a truck stand in Gujranwala and started investigation.

Director General Health Punjab Dr. Nisar Ahmed Cheema informed that a secret information was received that medicines worth lakhs of rupees are available at a truck stand in Gujranwala, upon which, he constituted a special raiding team consisting of Director Pharmacy Punjab Ayyaz Ali Khan, District Officer Health Gujranwala, Dr. Mahjabeen and Area Drugs Inspector Ahmed Tariq which, with the help of local police and EDO Health Gujranwala conducted a raid and recovered the medicines.

Dr. Nisar Cheema told that preliminary investigation revealed that the medicines had been booked from Lahore and on some of these medicines there is a stamp of Lahore General Hospital whereas on some medicines there is a stamp of District Government Gujranwala or Government property. He further said that a high level inquiry committee is being constituted for complete investigation of this scandal of stolen government medicines. He told that the recovered medicines have been taken into government custody.
