YDA call off their strike:LHC orders

Lahore High Court has ordered young doctors to restore their services from Saturday (today) by calling off their strike and has warned the provincial government and police not to harass them.

Despite the orders of the Supreme Court, the strike of young doctors tantamount to contempt of court. The court is impartial and it will consider every aspect of the case. The sympathies of the court are with the doctors but they should not refuse provision of treatment to the patients.

Justice Ejaz ul Hassan of Lahore High Court heard the case of strike of doctors.Local lawyer, Azhar Siddique Advocate was of the view that the strike of doctors be declared unlawful, as under the constitution, doctors cannot refuse to give treatment to the patients. Giving remarks, Justice Ejazul Hassan said that the sympathies of the court are with the doctors but refusing treatment to the patients is wrong and despite the orders of the Supreme Court, strike of doctors falls under contempt of court. He further remarked that Punjab government and police should not harass the doctors. It should be kept in mind that whatsoever the problem is, patients should not face any difficulty.
