UK helps Rescue1122 in fire safty

Lahore:The Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) is in process of finalizing draft of Fire Prevention & Community Safety legislation in consultation with the Strathclyde Fire & Rescue service of United Kingdom. The increasing number of fires and its socio-economic impact on society has necessitated Rescue 1122 to draft the Fire Prevention & Community Safety legislation after looking at the international best practices. Rescue 1122 has dealt with over 34,000 fire incidents and large number of these incidents can be easily prevented. In this regard Scotland had also revised its old laws and introduced Fire Scotland Act in 2005.

In this regard Dr Rizwan Naseer is reviewing the system in Scotland and holding detailed discussions with the official of the Strathclyde Fire & Rescue service, UK. He would also discuss the fire safety arrangements prevailing in United Kingdom so that the best practices may be included in the draft Fire Safety legislation in order to prevent fire incidents in buildings.

All this collaboration is the result of the MoU between the Strathclyde Fire & Rescue service of UK and the Punjab Emergency Service singed due to efforts of Mr Hanzala Malik, Member Scottish Parliament and Ch Sarwar, the first muslim British Parliamentarian.

Furthermore during his meetings with the senior mamagement of SFR Dr Rizwan shall finalize the arrangement for training of third batch of officers of Punjab Emergency Service particularly with regards to advanced Incident Command Course for officers
