Lahore:Chairman Punjab Sports Board, Hamza Shahbaz Sharif MNA has said that Punjab would be made the center of sports and playgrounds. He said that mega sports festival will be made annual feature in the province. He said that sports activities have been restored in cricket, hockey and other sports centers retrieved from qabza groups in every district.
He expressed these views while addressing a prize distribution ceremony among the position holder players on the conclusion of Lahore Junior Open Squash Championship at Punjab Squash Complex here today. DCO Lahore Noorul Ameen Mengal also attended the function. Lahore City District Government has organized this championship in which 100 players participated. Talking to the media on the occasion, Hamza Shahbaz Sharif disclosed that besides education Punjab government is also setting up endowment fund for sports. He said that promotion of sports and recreational facilities in the present socio political situation and stress and strain is priority of the Punjab government. He said that children are our future. He disclosed that Punjab government is starting talent hunt programme for producing best players and talented youth. Hamza Shahbaz Sharif said that legislation would be made in the Punjab Assembly with regard to those playgrounds which have been retrieved from qabza groups so that in future no one could dare to again occupy these playgrounds.
