Lahore Police have detained District Emergency Officer Dr Ahmed Raza, to press his family members to produce his cousin who is associated with the Young Doctor Association.
This is the same officer who has personally rescued thousands of people including police officers during bomb blasts and disasters. Punjab Governor Sardar Latif Khosa conferred the presidential award Tamgha-i-Imtiaz on Dr Raza this year for his outstanding achievements in the field of Rescue 1122 and his services for the humanity.

On Tuesday night, Ghalib Market SHO Rana Akmal badly tortured three youth, simply to harass Dr Raza, as he was standing beside the car of SHO inside the police station. Sources said the SHO even misbehaved with Dr Raza and went on calling him ‘1122’. Meanwhile,
Sources said that neither Rescue-1122 Director General Dr Rizwan Naseer, nor the Administrator Brigadier Arshad Zia bothered to ask CCPO Aslam Tareen about the legal status of this illegal detention. A senior Rescue official said the law enforcement agency could not detain anyone except the chief suspect.
