Punjab Labour Minister Haji Ehsaan-ud-Din Qureshi has said that government will provide state of the art health care facilities to the labourers and labour department will spend Rs. 4.31 billion for the provision of state of the art healthcare facilities to the labourers and their families during current fiscal year. He said that new social security hospitals will be setup and existing hospitals would be updated. He told that during current financial year a new social security hospital will be established at Sheikhupura where modern facilities and medical equipments will be provided.
He expressed these views in 118th governing body meeting of Punjab Employees Social Security Institution (PESSI) presided by its Chairman / Minister Labour. The meeting was attended by Addl. Secretary Labour, Commissioner PESSI, high ranking officials of labour, health, finance and other departments. Haji Ehsaan-ud-Din Qureshi said that government is giving top priority to the provision of state of the art healthcare facilities to the labourers and the main objective of the labour department is to provide free of cost comprehensive healthcare facilities to the workers and their family members. He said that the social security is introducing hospital management information system costing rupees 107 million, the scheme would be introduced at the dispensary level in phases. He said that latest treatment facilities to the workers / family members are being provided even chronic and fatal diseases.
