Drs on remand

Lahore: At least 15 patients have died due to non availability of medical treatment in Governments hospitals including one and half year’s old child on the fifteenth consecutive day of strike by young doctors in Punjab. On the request of Punjab Government Drs from Army Medical core have started the treatment of poor patients in public hospital while senior Drs are also doing their best to serve the humanity.
On the other hand Police have arrested dozens of Drs who were not ready to do their job on the direction of Punjab Government. The provincial Law Minister has confirmed the detention of 36 Doctors under the essential service act.
SP City Division Lahore Multan Khan has told the media that a murder case has been registered against the striking Drs on the death of one and half year’s old child in Mayo Hospital emergency who didn’t provide medical facility to the dying kid. He said police have taken them into custody on physical remand granted by local court. The SP said if any Dr tried to create hurdle in the treatment of poor patients or close the hospital the law would be in action.
The civil society has also condemned the Drs Strike and supports the Government action with the critic for delay. They said government should not wait for the deaths of poor patients
