Every effort will be made for road safety:IG Zafar Abbas Lak

Lahore:Every effort will be made and all the resources will be used to the noble cause of road safety and standards of the same will be upgraded said newly appointed Inspector General of National Highways & Motorway Police Mr. Zafar Abbas Lak while his first visit to N-5 Central Office, Lahore. He is the 10th Inspector General of National Highways & Motorway Police. Before his posting as I.G. NH&MP, he was working as Secretary, Ministry of Narcotics. He also remained Security Officer to the Prime Minister Muhammad Khan Junejo. He also served as DG, FIA.

On his arrival at Zonal Office N-5 Central Lahore, Guard of Honour was presented to him by smartly dressed contingent of Police cops. Zonal Commander Nisar Ahmad Saroya, SSP Mirza Faran Baigh, SSP Ghulam Jaafar, SSP Atif Ikram and other officers of Motorway Police were present on the occasion. The IG Zafar Abbas Luk was given briefing by Zonal Commander Nisar Ahmad about the working of the zone. While holding meeting with the officers IG Zafar Abbas emphasized to promote help culture and courtesy with the road users, as this is the hallmark of the success of NH&MP. He also said that there is a dire need to give the respect to the professional drivers and enhancement of their driving skills. He directed the officers to eliminate the encroachments on N-5 by keeping all the stake holders into confidence. He also directed the SSPs to extend their patrolling hours and in case of any accident, personally reach the scene of incident as early as possible, as the safety of human lives is our prime responsibility. Earlier, IG NH&MP also visited Motorway Police Training College Sheikhupura where he held a police ‘Darbar’. IG Zafar Abbas promised to carry forward the projects of Housing Society for NH&MP employees, continue sports activities, ensure full insurance of the employees and cater other needs of the officers.
