Gilani seeks British investment in energy sector

Islamabad: Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani Tuesday sought British investment in Pakistan’s energy sector and said power shortages had hampered the pace of economic growth.

Talking to William Hague, British Secretary of State for Foreign and Common Affairs here at the PM House, Gilani said over 100 UK-based companies were doing profitable business in Pakistan and said British companies should explore investment opportunities in this sector.

William Hague agreed with the Prime Minister on the urgency to tackle energy crisis facing Pakistan. He said that Britain was carrying out discussion with the Pakistani authorities on energy mix. He promised that he would play his role in encouraging the British companies to invest in energy sector of Pakistan.
