CM Punjab meets foreign investors

Lahore: President China Investment Corporation, Dr. Fan Kung Shang met Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, here today. Matters regarding investment in energy, mining and infrastructure sectors were discussed on the occasion. Head of Asia Pacific Global Market (CIC) Clients Sufyan Zubairi, Managing Director Bank of America Merrill Lynch Ms. Wei Wang, Provincial Energy Minister Ch. Abdul Ghafoor, Chairman Lahore Transport Company Kh. Ahmed Hasaan, Hafiz Mian Nauman, MPA, Vice Chairman Punjab investment Board, Chairman Planning & Development, secretaries of Energy and Mining Departments were also present.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that there are vast opportunities of investment in energy, mining and infrastructure sectors in the province. He said that a favorable atmosphere for investment has been created in the province and all facilities are being offered to the entrepreneurs under one roof. He said that Chinese investors can invest in energy, mining and infrastructure sectors. He said that Punjab government is promoting investment under public-private partnership. He said that Pakistan is facing serious energy crisis which is badly affecting all sectors. He said that provincial government is working on various projects of power generation through hydro, bagasse, coal, solar, biogas and other sources. He said that there are vast reserves of coal in Punjab and power generation projects from coal can also be implemented. He said that Punjab also has large reserves of iron ore which is of the highest standard. He said that provincial government has constructed northern loop of Ring Road in the provincial metropolis which is of the highest standard and now it intends to start work on southern loop. Similarly, he said, planning has been made for the construction of Rawalpindi Ring Road and Lahore-Sialkot Motorway. He said that Chinese investors can consider investment in these projects. He said that government is also implementing metro bus service project with the collaboration of Turkey. He said that government is attaching top priority to transparency, standard and timely completion of development projects in the province. He also informed the delegation about his visits to China and the agreements reached with Chinese companies.
President China Investment Corporation Dr. Fan Kung Shang informed about investment by his company in various countries and said that Punjab is the hub of economic activities and his company is interested in investment in the province. He thanked the Chief Minister for his hospitability and said that he will come to Punjab with a complete package of investment after consulting experts.
