staff of wheat procurement centres suspended

Lahore:Special Assistant to Punjab Chief Minister on Food and Environment, Muhammad Mansha Ullah Butt accompanied by Secretary Food Irfan Ali, paid a surprise visit to wheat procurement centres of Burki, Kahna and Kasur. During visit to procurement centre Kasur, on the complaints of local farmers regarding corruption and dereliction of duty in distribution of gunny bags, suspended Qanoongo Abdul Latif and constituted three member committee comprising Director Food Mirza Sharjeel, DOC Sufyan Awan, and Liaison Officer Syed Siaf Ali to look into the matter. The committee will submit its report to Special Assistant to CM within three days.

 Muhammad Mansha Ullah Butt informed that according to the vision of Punjab Chief Minister, maximum facilities are being provided to small farmers. He said that role of middleman has been eliminated in the procurement of wheat for directly benefitting the farmers. He informed some anti-farmer elements are spreading rumours that gunny bags are not being provided to the farmers which is totally wrong.  He said that gunny bags have been distributed for storage of 27 lakh 60 thousand 7 hundred 35 metric ton wheat so far and 25 thousand, 25 hundred metric ton wheat has been procured while the process of more wheat procurement is continuing
