Education is top priority:Mujtaba Shuja

Lahore:Minister Education Punjab Mian Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman has said that education is the top priority of the provincial government and the government has taken new initiative in the field of education. He said after completion distribution of 1 lakh 25 thousand laptops among morning students, the government has launched distribution of laptops among the students of evening programme. He said that next year the number of laptops will increase upto three lakh. He said that Rs. One billion stipend was being distributed in the girl students belonging to remote and deprived areas to encourage female education. He said that government has step-up endowment fund with rupees 8 billion, talented and deserving students are gating scholarship for higher studies.

While talking to delegations of students and notables, Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman said that on the instructions of Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, a 40-member delegation of position-holder students will proceed to Turkey, Germany and England in June on a 4-week tour an amount of Rs.45 lakh will be spent on the tour.He told that 25 lakh boy and girl students are getting computer education every year in the province through IT promotion programme of Chief Minister Punjab. He maintained that in result of education friendly policies of the present government the literacy rate has been raised from 58 % to 62 % in four years.
Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman told that Punjab Government has provided a sum of Rs. 10 billion to promote school education in the marginalized strata and 1.5 million deserving students in the 36 districts would be benefited during current year. He told that a sum of Rs. 46 billion will be spent on the school education sector to elevate it according to international standards. The government has recruited 36 thousand school teachers and 30 thousand subject specialist purely on merit he concluded.
