SRI LANKAN CHAPTER OF THE QUETTA ASSOCIATION VISITING PAKISTAN?

Colombo:SRI LANKAN CHAPTER OF THE QUETTA ASSOCIATION VISITING PAKISTAN
A five member Sri Lankan delegation of the Quetta Association is currently visiting Pakistan’ Command and Staff College Quetta.
The visiting delegation is led by General (Retd) Rohan de S Daluwatte, Chief Patron of the Quetta Association along with four Senior member delegation. The four other members of the delegation include Major General (Retd) GWW Perera, Brigadier (Retd) N P Fernando, Major General A M Perera and Major General N J Walgama.      
The Quetta Association which comprises the graduate officers of the Command Staff College Quetta Pakistan became an active platform of interaction between two friendly armed forces personnel, after its inauguration in January 2011 at Sri Lanka during the visit of Chief of Army Staff Pakistan General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani.
 
The Quetta Association is a non-governmental, non-political, non-religious, non-ethnic, non racial and non-profitable organization which provides a platform of interaction amongst the Graduates of command and Staff College Quetta. The High Commissioner of Pakistan in Sri Lanka H.E Seema Ilahi Baloch is the Co patron of the Quetta Association. The total members of the Quetta Association are 41, who hold highly significant assignments in their respective institutions in all the segments of the Sri Lanka Armed Forces.
The visit to the institution from where these bright sons of Sri Lankan Armed Forces qualified 15 to 22 years earlier will re kindle their memories of the past and will also offer opportunity for sharing their experiences in service after doing staff college from prestigious Command and Staff College Quetta.
The visit to their Alma Mater was planned during General Body Meeting of the Association held in October 2011. The visit to Quetta was planned and coordinated by Defence Advisor of Pakistan for Sri Lanka and Maldives, Colonel Sheharyar Parvez Butt.
 
Since independence, Sri Lanka and Pakistan have consistently maintained close, cordial and mutually supportive relations especially in the field of defense. Both nations have assisted each other during testing times in their histories.

Pakistan and Sri Lanka have comprehensive and mutually beneficial training collaboration for Army, Navy and Air Force. Over a period of time, a strong bond of commitment and mutual understanding has been reached between both the friendly armed forces. In future too, both the brotherly countries are expected to work more closely in the field of defence to boost peace efforts in the region.
